It’s hard to believe I have been practicing law for 29 years. And what an adventure this has been! When I started this practice right out of law school, people commented on what a “brave” move that was. Frankly I was more terrified to go to work for someone else than to go it alone. I was recruited by a firm once several years ago; I knew it was not for me when, as I was contemplating that offer, this thought popped into my head: I wonder what business I could start on the side?
I am an entrepreneur, born and bred. My father, a geologist, always had some entrepreneurial project going, from developing an oil well here and there, to creating a home barbeque product.
This must be why I have always worked with business owners. They are my people. I understand the legal aspects of starting and operating a business, but also, I understand the mental, emotional, and operational challenges of building and growing a business. I have worked with clients in many industries including contractors, hospitality, real estate, automotive, aviation, and now I am thrilled to be focusing on California med spas and wellness practices.
Regardless of the industry, the same basic principles apply. A good legal structure, a realistic business plan, and a competent advisory team are indicators of success. I am proud to be part of the advisory team for thousands of businesses and at present, over 400 med spas and wellness practices.
I never dreamed, when I set that first desk up in the hallway of my friend’s office, that I would have such an exciting and resilient practice. We are continuing to grow and I look forward to contributing to the success of many more clients.
